Serenity Counseling Services, LLC was established in 2014 by Jessica Messersmith-Miller MSW, LISW-S.  The decision to open a private practice was a result of working in Emergency Departments and Residential and Outpatient Therapy programs and witnessing first hand the lack of adequate and available services and resources from credentialed and experienced clinicians.

Jessica’s passion for working with those who suffer from addictions began during her graduate school internships and continues to grow with each client she works with.  She believes that addiction is a disease and needs to be treated with respect and compassion while utilizing a combination of evidenced-based treatment approaches. 

Jessica further developed her experience and skills in understanding and providing treatment for co-occurring disorders and from a trauma informed perspective. 

 

As her career and experience has grown, her passion has extended to working with young adults and helping to guide them through a variety of life transitions as well as providing therapy to couples.

Jessica strongly believes that incorporating work on feelings, communication, and self-esteem is essential to her client’s being happy and successful. 

 

Jessica excels in providing a warm, welcoming and non-judgmental approach while validating her client’s feelings and challenging them to navigate through their discomfort and vulnerabilities in order to reach their treatment goals and live their best lives.
